Wyoming Debt Consolidation and Credit Counseling Services

As a Wyoming resident, you are protected by strict state laws that prohibit for-profit debt management companies. You can still enroll in a debt management program if you find yourself overcome by credit card debt and other unsecured loans. Wyoming law requires that a credit counseling organization be a nonprofit charity in order to allow access to Wyoming residents.

Debtors Unite recommends Vision Credit Education as a nonprofit charity that is tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). This means that the organization has a bona fide mission to help you control your debt and rebuild your credit as you improve your finances.

Vision Credit Education provides a debt management program that has been highly effective at gaining interest rate reductions and a lower consolidated payment on behalf of their clients. While we at Debtors Unite know that no organization can promise to lower your rates or reduce your payments, Vision Credit Education has successfully garnered this support from the majority of clients' creditors included in their debt management program.

While Vision Credit Education is an accredited organization with a licensed debt management program, it also requires accreditation of all of its counselors. Every counselor holds the Accredited Financial Counselor designation as a testament to the training, dual examinations and at least 15 continuing education credits earned by each counselor on an annual basis. To speak with an Accredited Financial Counselor about your finances, gather your bills and call 1-800-379-4720. Alternatively, you may submit your information for review by one of their counselors at their online counseling website.

Perhaps you feel that your credit rating is still very good and you are looking to consolidate your debt through a personal loan. Unsecured debt consolidation loans are generally available for a couple thousand dollars with very good credit and a reasonably low debt-to-income ratio. Higher loan amounts are generally hard to get if you have several thousand dollars that you are trying to consolidate under one loan. An exception could be made if you have some property to pledge as collateral for the loan. A paid off car or real estate owned outright are possibilities, as is a home equity line of credit on a home you are still paying off.

Wyoming debt consolidation loan companies can be found online or listed with the Better Business Bureau. Your local bank or credit union is often the best place to obtain a debt consolidation loan, especially if you have an established banking relationship with that financial institution. National banks can also provide similar services so it is recommended that you compare multiple offers before you commit to a lender.

Debtors Unite does not directly refer clients to debt consolidation lenders, but we do periodically review lenders or loan products to provide more information to you as the consumer. We want to make sure that if you do choose to take on debt, that you do so in a responsible manner and without patronizing predatory lending companies.

For more information on debt consolidation options or credit counseling, feel free to contact Debtors Unite at 1-800-838-0861. You may also ask a question at one of our debtor forums if you want responses from some of our readers.
