Review of Brightscore.com

By Chris Buchheit on February 16, 2010

1149842_77899263-(1).jpgEveryone knows, catchy jingles aside, that credit scores are incredibly important. They can determine whether or not you will be given a loan, a mortgage, or what your interest rates will be for leasing a big-ticket item such as a car. This is why in recent years companies have begun capitalizing on the importance of the three digit number. There are a number of places to turn, but which is the best?

A program known at BrightScore, developed by InCharge, was designed to help families in financial trouble. InCharge is a non-profit organization that specializes in personal finance and fiscal responsibility. The company says it is dedicated to this cause.

According to its website, BrightScore.com is a company dedicated to financial education and financing. It contains a computer application that can help consumers understand more about their own finances. The program can remind you about payments, can track your credit score, and can even keep track of balances in accounts. However, how does the program hold up to user reviews?

One site, military.chronicles.com maintains that the BrightScore program is one of the easiest program the writer used, saying that the layout is logical and easy to understand. The writer goes on, saying that it was very easy to tell how the program calculated his credit score and what variables the program took into account. Additionally, a writer for www.nextlevellifestyle.com calls the program a, “great, low-cost resource that offers you a copy of your credit report, an analysis of your credit situation (with suggestions on how to improve it) and your credit score all for just $19.95” According to a few sources, the program is offered free to members of the military, as it was originally conceived for them.

Theoretically, those that are more easily able to monitor their scores will find it easier to pull it up. If they see the variables that help calculate the credit score, consumers should find their scores more logical and easier to improve. Given the opportunity, anyone would want to bring up the fateful number. This program supposedly gives consumers this opportunity.
Note: Brightscore.com was discontinued in early 2010. Other credit scoring products are still available.
