Tips for Reaching the Perfect Credit Score |

Is it possible? A perfect 850 credit score? Although most people never see a score near that high, or even as low as the lowest 300, there are some Americans who strive for credit perfection. If you think this is something you would like to attempt, here are some tips for you to get started.
1. Check your credit score!
Checking and correcting errors on your credit report is the quickest way to improve your score. As surprising as it may sound, there are very often mistakes in credit reports. Mix ups in names, dates, card numbers, etc. are all common ways score reports obtain errors. By finding these errors and contacting the appropriate people, your score could possibly jump dozens of points.
2. Avoid credit disasters!
If achieving a perfect score is something you really want to reach, there may be sacrifices you must take. A great example of this is house foreclosures. Foreclosing on your house is a terrible hit to you credit score—often around 100 points are eliminated in an instant. Foreclosures also stay on your report for up to 7 years. It is often hard to tell if foreclosure is actually going to be in your future. Rather than rolling the dice and taking a gamble of possibly having to foreclose on your home, you should sell it accepting the loss in revenue before you must resort to foreclosure. This will save your credit score from the hazards of foreclosing. Although it may be hard to swallow, taking precautionary steps such as this are good ways to maintain high credit scores.
3. Use credit cards correctly!
Credit cards are often connected with debt and credit problems. They can, however, also be a strong factor in a perfect credit score. Using a few credit cards is good because it shows creditors that you can use credit wisely. Balances should always be paid off in full, so do not ever use credit outside of your income limits. Try to have large limits on your cards because they benefit you by lowering the impact of one transaction on your credit. The more transactions overall, the less of an impact each transaction causes.
Using these steps can start you on a path for a perfect credit score. This path will be long and hard to maintain, but it could be worth it because it will also save you money in the longer run and make life easier. With a perfect credit score you are basically guaranteed to be granted any reasonable loan amount you ask for, which is a great thing for houses and cars. |
